Frame & Hub Requirements

• In the case of using the 3mm offset chainring with MTB Standard axle type cranks, the chain line will be 52mm (the hub spacing (O.L.D.) is 148mm).
• In the case of using the 3mm offset chainring with MTB WIDE axle type cranks, the chain line will be 55mm (the hub spacing (O.L.D.) is 148mm).

Chain Compatibility

• Compatible with SRAM T-Type Transmission.
• We have designed universal teeth that work with other chains as well: SRAM chains (11sp, 12sp Eagle, 12sp T-Type), Shimano chains (11sp, 12sp HG+), and KMC chains.

8-Bolt Standard Pioneers

ALUGEAR is specialized in the production of high-quality bicycle components. We are one of the first who starts to produce 8-bolts MTB chainrings. Most have used a 3-bolts design for direct mount chainrings. But now the 8-bolts standard has come to be used for DUB MTB cranks and Power Meters more.

Design Variety & Weight Reduction

• We offer Oval and Round chainrings for 8-bolts cranks in several designs: AERO, Beach Ball, ELM, with a large range tooth count of 26T-40T, and 8 color options.
• ALUGEAR chainrings are some of the lightest chainrings on the market. Using our experience and vigorous testing, we tweaked the arm design and strategically machined the chainrings so that only minimal sacrifices were made in impact strength in exchange for large gains in weight reduction.

Manufacturing & Tooth Profile

• The chainrings are CNC machined from 7075 T6 aluminum and hard coat industrially anodized to provide protection from mechanical impacts, a good look, and an excellent tactile feel to each of the chainrings that lasts a long time.
• A unique tooth profile eliminates chain noise, reduces wear, and provides smooth operation on the entire system of all the most common combinations, such as 10, 11, and 12-speed drives. The Narrow Wide teeth guide the chain reliably.
• The tooth profile is specially designed for use with MTB chains.

Please use the titanium screw set M4x8mm to mount the chainring on the crank.

Drivetrain Best Practices

• We recommend the use of a clutch system rear derailleur for the best chain security.
• It is also a good idea to use a new chain with your new ALUGEAR chainring.
• It is recommended to use a well-lubricated chain on every ride.

OPTIONS OF DIRECT MOUNT CRANKS

Most MTB cranksets have traditionally used a 3-bolts mounting, but the 8-bolts mounting has been used on the Quarq Power Meter cranks. Now some non-power meter SRAM MTB cranks use the 8-bolts mounting.
